St.Columba's Church Burns Supper 2010

St. Columba's Church held their annual tribute to the Bard at St. George's School on the 24th January with over 90 members and friends attending. The evening's proceedings were commenced by our Session Clerk. Rena Menzies.
and after the haggis had been duly addressed and dispatched, we all gave over the next part of the evening to eating it and the large selection of puddings provided.
Then came the traditional speeches when George Thain proposed the "Imortal Memory", Boyd Bennie gave the "Toast to the Lassies" and Katie Bennie replied.
Afterwards came a bit of dancing to shake down all the food, with music provided by a newly formed Scottish Country Dance Band, "Invercauld", and very good they are too. Their presence in Jersey will fill a much needed gap in the local music scene.

Following the dancing, the evening ended with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne".
